Nicotinamide is one of the two most common forms of niacin (vitamin B3), the other being nicotinic acid. Niacin is a water-soluble vitamin that belongs to the vitamin B complex group. Nicotinamide is a precursor to nicotinic acid, which means that it can be converted to nicotinic acid in the body. However, nicotinamide does not cause the flushing reaction that is often associated with nicotinic acid supplementation.
